Both Yasmin Hani Richardson and Sha’rin Mohd Razali are husband and wife. A well-known actress in the local entertainment industry as well as an entrepreneur running her baby spa, she is happily married to the former drummer of Blackrose, a local rock band turned producer. These two seemed to have it all and share with us their success story on how they are able to cope their time with their careers, marriage, parenting and creating their own innovative and personal events.

1. How long have you been married to each other?

We have been married now for almost four years.

2. Being local personalities, you both must have been lucky enough to have your entire wedding sponsored?

We were lucky to have our pelamin sponsored but everything else, we had to finance ourselves. We had family members helping us out but like every newly wed couples, we also did most of the preparations ourselves sourcing for vendors through word-of-mouth, directory and even the Internet.

3. So, what was the most challenging role you faced when coming up with your own wedding?

We weren’t sure if all of the vendors we sourced from the Internet were good and there are simply too many websites around. Some websites may look attractive and vendors may claimed they provide excellent services but still it was a huge risk as we have never used them before. We wanted the hassle free vendor, who we could communicate well, knew our style and needs, able to cater to our demands of having our traditional akad nikah during the day and wedding reception dinner at night. It was a small but yet very intimate and lovely setting.

4. You now have a one-year-old son. Did you both go through the same process of coming up with his events such as aqiqah and cukur jambul and 1st birthday?

Close friends and families handled my son’s aqiqah so we were extremely fortunate and grateful for all the love and support we had. But when it came to his 1st birthday, we ended up planning everything out ourselves. We didn’t have a problem when it came to getting photographers, videographers and artistes as we come from the entertainment industry. Sourcing for kids’ items such as clowns, balloons, inflatable house, etc. was something new and pretty challenging for us.

5. So what do you think of the idea of having an event portal to simplify planning and accommodate your needs?

We love the idea of having to go through a one-stop event portal where there it helps to simplify search and event planning and create trust and accountability so a portal that caters to all vendors with a rating system would definitely assist us in making better and more informed decisions. We love the idea of having a real-time system where we can communicate and connect online without having to travel and yet providing us with guidance. We need a portal that can cater to people who have immensely busy schedules. We’re both tight with our production company, acting, running our baby spa and being parents ourselves so a portal to answer to our needs, would be perfect in helping to simplify matters and giving us special moments to celebrate.
